42. An almost summer day.

I complain about the weather a lot. Living in NL has its benefits, but the fact that it was so cold in the entire month of June that it was nicknamed Juneuary. I found it quite amusing at first, despite the cold. Actually, thinking back on it I think we had some warmer days in January than June. Sad thought.

plaid shirt - f21 (heritage) / dress - delia's, $10 on sale! / sandals - spring
obligatory hair flick. I do this 8 million times after I wash my hair.

This was a particularly nice day, I even shaved my legs. I don't know why I don't own any maxis when shaving my extensive length of leg is such a feat. I had a few more pictures picked out but I don't feel like editing or resizing, so here they are in unedited glory. Cloudy days suck but they may for good lighting.

I meant to post this yesterday, but such is life. My parents are in so I get less time to blog secretly. I managed to take a few outfit pics this week though, and I probably will show boyfriend soon. He keeps taking pictures for me and I don't think he knows why! Oh well, it will all be revealed in time... ;)

41. A break.

I've taken a slightly prolonged break from everything except studying. Such is life, my last post described it in more detail. Thanks to my few commentors, it really helped. I'm still not up to posting much, just in a funk but I'm going to try to work posting into my daily schedule, or at least a couple times a week.

Grey Blazer - Mexx  / Pink tee - Suzy Shier / Jeans - Gap 1969 Perfect Boot  / Sneakers - New Balance

This outfit is one of my favourites from the past month. It was a while ago actually, when I had time to go outside and do stuff. What a concept! First time wearing my new grey Mexx blazer, which I still haven't worn much since it's both a) cold and b) wet.

These were taken out in Bay Bulls near the Bread & Cheese Inn. Such a cute little place, the boy and I had supper after venturing around the coastline. I had the spinach ravioli, ohmygod so gooddd! I love having the boy to take pictures. He's much better than I am at focusing, when I'm taking self-portraits. Even managed to get a jewelry shot in! Look at that!

That's it for today I think. Two posts, not bad. Off to get ready for class, oh joy.

Project 52: Week 24

Week 24's theme made me drool when looking at the Flickr group! The theme was "Make It Tasty", which I obviously loved. I was thinking about making all kinds of delicious food to get a perfect picture but didn't end up having time, as school decided to kick my ass. Here's my take on something that is so super tasty, a local pub/inn restaurant with the best hot turkey ever!

Drooling yet? Stay tuned for more updates from me, promise I'm going to try to not be useless!

40. This is where I become a slacker.

I had many wants for this week. I wanted to start the Kendi-inspired 30x30 remix. I wanted to remember to wear my pretty lace top, or find something new, to participate in this month's EBEW. I wanted to have enough time to study everything for my midterms and keep on top of blogging. But you know how it is....

University, in my case, but whatever. It's all the same. Social life and blogging loses out this week. I've got a few posts to catch up on when tomorrow is over, last exam for this week. Midterm break is up next followed by another exam. The joys.

In other news, looking forward to seeing everyone's remixes! I love when a remix happens, so much blogging to read :) Speaking of reading, has anyone been reading mine? I've been posting more regularly lately, sans this week, but I feel like I'm going down in readers, definitely down in comments. I don't feel like that's the only important thing about blogging, but I'm feeling a little invisible. If you're out there, let me know!

Project 52: Week 23

This week I actually had a creative idea! What a concept. I didn't get exactly what I wanted because the fog lifted a little by the time I got to take a picture. But I think it turned out pretty well. The outfit is Galaxy of Dots dress from Anthro, one of my two pieces. Flats are from Europe and I don't even remember where, but you'll be seeing them again :) This week's theme is Enchantment. I think this fits pretty well, don't you?

Project 52: Week 21 & 22

Week 21 - Need for Speed. I got so frustrated by this one, and ended up doing something simple. Here's the irony of driving; everyone has a need for speed and yet gets stuck in traffic daily.

Week 22: Reflection. Pretty self explanatory. Me and the boy looking over the water in Bay Bulls. Will be posting an outfit from this day soon!

Another post completed! I have my Week 23 picture just about done, have to edit a little before I post!

Fashion-Beauty Friend Friday: Summer Trends

This week's FBFF is summer trends, what I'm most looking forward to wearing when the weather gets warm! Unfortunately for me, if you've been reading my last few posts you'll know the weather isn't cooperating. We've just ended Fogageddon 2011 - 116 hours of fog with visibility less than 3 km. It makes for great ambiance with the historic downtown center, but not so fun when you can't remember what the sun looks like. The fog lifted a little yesterday but came back last night, of course.

So, summer trends! I never claim to be much up on trends, but I try to wear things that always fit in with whatever's popular. Here's my choices! Blogger is being an asshole currently, so if things are formatted wrong I tried my hardest!

1. Bright neon nail polish: I've got a little confession; in the past 3 months or so I've become obsessed with nail polish and nail blogs. I love all the colors and bright designs. I'm pretty useless at doing anything other than basic polish on myself, so I try to go for the brightest colors I can! My new favourites are CG Strawberry Fields, a gorgeous medium pink with gold shimmer, and CG Shocking Pink, pictured below. Such a bright neon pink, makes me feel so summery!

2. Everything pink: So, clearly my nails are loving the pink trend, but it's slowly filtering into all of my closet as well. I am looovviinnggg all of the bright pink happy clothes that's happening! It's such a cute flirty color to wear in any shade. Plus it looks good on my extra pale skin. Always a bonus.

3. White jeans: This one I can't vouch for wearing myself, but I definitely want to find a pair. I love the clean crisp look of white jeans with a casual striped tee or dressed up with a bright patterned shirt. If I had them they would not be staying white for very long though, thus my avoiding of this great trend.

4. Chambray shirt/dress: I love the look of chambray or denim-look dresses. I know they've been popular for a while but I still love the casual yet put together look of them. I was so close to having this one. I saw so many cute dresses at H&M when I was in NB, and didn't buy them. I still don't remember why...

5. Longer length skirts: Midi skirts have been calling out to me since I first saw the expanding trend. I want one so bad, but I can't find any in my area and I'm a little wary of buying online. I'd definitely have to make sure it looks as good as I want it to!

There's my list! Anything you agree or disagree with? Let me know! Head on over to Modly Chic to check out everyone else's answers!

39. And then it starts to rain.

The day I wore this outfit was so nice. It was about 23 degrees, Celsius. The warmest it had been yet! I had leggings on first, but changed when Boyfriend and I had to run some errands. It was still sooo niiceeee. And then we got home to start up the bbq, and it started to rain. I hate the weather in NL.

I do love this shirt though, I can see myself wearing it lots this summer. Got it in Bangor, I think it was TJ Maxx. I don't remember specifically since I kinda did a lot of shopping. I'll be layering many colors underneath to change it up, an easy way to get a little more color and no jewelry necessary because of that crocheted neckline! It continues to the back but not as much. I love having thin shirts that are cute, cool, but still look good. And layered thin clothing is always my best bet on humid days. Hopefully warm days like this continue to fill my life. Unfortunately it doesn't seem likely, but a girl can dream, right?

38. A semi-perfect bun.

A slightly random rant to begin: I've got such a wonderful idea for my next Project 52 post, this weeks picture. That has absolutely nothing to do with this post, but that's irrelevant and it doesn't matter much lol. It's going to be such a good picture when I get it done. I just had to tell you about it. And it'll be done early this week, which means I have to post week 21 and 22 soon. I definitely will.

shirt - h&m / jeans & sweater - bluenotes / flats - clarks

i know you love the blue socks.

In other news, I'm in love with H&M. I absolutely love this shirt. It's drapey and soft and so comfy. Doesn't photograph well though. That's a shame. I also had to include a picture of my hair, because that's the best most perfect bun I've managed to make in a long time. It's nice when my hair decides to not be stupid.

Fashion-Beauty Friend Friday: Vacations

I'm sorry to all other FBFF bloggers, I am, but I think this week's description on this week's question is full of crap in my world. I do not see summer coming my way, I am barely getting spring-like temperatures! (don't mind me, I'm just jealous. I yearn for shorts and skirts and not having to wear a jacket. which I still do. blechhh) And don't get me started on the fact that I don't get a vacation because I'm in school all summer. Most of, at least. Today's post is just extra spite-y, isn't it? I do apologize, the weather sucks and I have lots of studying to do. Not so fun. On to the questions!

in the pool at the house we rented in FL, may 09. I so wanna go baaaccckkk. :(

1. When it comes to packing for vacation what’s your mantra?
I'll be the first to admit, I'm not very good at packing. I overpack like a monster. I try to go for pieces that are easy to mix and match, and things that pack easily. Stuff that needs to be ironed or washed after every wear does not bode well with me.

2. What are your must packs?
Always always always have to bring at least one pair of jeans, even in hot climates. I need to have something for traveling, since it's always colder in NL. But my basics are tees and leggings, jersey dresses. Stuff that can be easily worn and reworn in a variety of ways. My American Apparel dresses are great for this, since they can be remixed into many outfits; as a skirt, shirt or any type of dress!

3. What are you happy to leave behind?
The weather. That's my biggest one. I'm still in school so job stuff wouldn't bother me, and when I get time to go on a vacation I'm not in classes anyways. It's nice to just get away from everything though and not have to worry about everyone else.

4. Any packing secrets that help you get everything into one suitcase?
I've learned from my aunt, she's basically a Jedi Master of packing. I roll tees, flatten out jeans, make sure to fold sweaters the same way they do in stores. Lots of thin layers make for easier packing. My goal when I pack, if I'm going to do a lot of shopping on the trip, is to go with a half empty suitcase and come back full. It also helps to use a carry-on that you can check if necessary. This was much easier before the one-bag policy came in, but still useful.

5. Beach reading… what are you taking with you to read in the sand?
I won't be reading at at beach any time soon, but I'll be reading the latest in the Shopaholic series, Mini Shopaholic, by Sophie Kinsella. Along with that, basically re-reading all of my favourites. I will be taking special time to re-read Harry Potter 7, in anticipation for the next movie. Definitely a good read for anyone who hasn't been turned on to the series!

Now I'm off to try and study, but probably not going to happen lol. Hope you're all having a wonderful Friday and have a great weekend!

37. I heart Sheldon Cooper.

shirt - delia's / jeans - guess / tank - urban planet?

I love Sheldon. I've become hopelessly addicted to Big Bang, and I try to make everyone that I can love it as much as me. Boyfriend now has two seasons and a somewhat matching t-shirt. I found this when I was in Bangor at Delia's. How could I say no? It's Sheldon's catch phrase and so so good. I bought a Mario shirt for my bestie at the same time, so I got it semi-on-sale. Which means I definitely couldn't leave it behind.

This wasn't from today, I am sad to say. I'm a bit behind on outfit posts, but I like having a few ready to post. I don't do it every day since I don't wear things that are bloggable every day. Yesterday, case and point, was a study day and consisted of sweatpants and hoodies. That said, they're expensive & well-fitting sweatpants, but you don't want to see that, do you? (and they're not lululemon. I actually don't own one piece of clothing from there. strange? maybe...but Boyfriend is trying to wear me down. he's got a sweater and says I should have one too. Maybe I'll give in, maybe not) I'll assume no and keep trying to dress better despite my non-summer I'm having. Here's hoping for hot!!!

I had to post another picture. This is my super howl-y neighbour dog. One of them. Two basset hounds, super fat but annoying. Except when they waddle out and start being fat and cute. Then I melt a little. I like wrinkly dogs.
