Hello all!
It's been a long time since we talked, hasn't it? I had to check when I posted last. November. That long, really?
I've been rather busy, you see.
Made my way into the last term of my university degree now. It's a scary thought but a super exciting one. With school comes busy, and with the holidays came a change in perspective of what was and is important. Spending a lot of time with my parents and friends, focusing on the people that make me better as opposed to those who make me not act like myself.
It's liberating, let me tell you.
My new obsessions for 2013? Fitness. I'm in a clean(er) eating and exercise lifestyle which I am enjoying immensely. The weight stays mostly the same but I'm gaining muscle and just feeling better, the most important thing.
To anyone who's finding the blog for the first time, let me just say thank you for visiting. I truly appreciate the views and the time you take to read through my posts. It means a lot :)
I hope to get back to posting something in the near future, once I figure out where I want this to go. And to anyone reading, any suggestions for projects to take on are greatly appreciated.
Til next time :)

144. I just wanna know you better, know you better..
Another wordy post for a lack of my posting! I'm trying, I am. Terri at Stylish Sass, who is adorable and manages to have a full time job and post frequently, nominated me for this award! I love a good question post so here's my take!
How it Works:
3. Choose people and link them to your post
4. Go to their page and tell them.
5. No tag backs!
Therefore, here's my answers!
- My goals for learning in the near future, apart from school, are specific and big: learn how to ride a motorcycle, play guitar, read music, and speak French. It's going to be an interesting year.
- I haven't applied for any jobs yet after graduation because of my fear of rejection. I'm working on getting past that but I still have 6 months left to school.
- Being in my last year of university is the most surreal thing.
- I don't know how to date anymore and it's annoying. I don't think I've ever actually dated.
- I want to move away from NL when I finish school, but the idea of emptying this house both scares me and depresses me.
- I went from hating country, to kind of liking some songs, to liking a lot of the music, to full on addict. I've bought several CDs and have a substantial country section on my iPod.
- Haven't been down south (Jamaica/Cuba/etc.) and now I have two trips planned within a month of each other around the end of school
- All my friends agree I'm more fun single. An amusing fact, I think.
- If I'm out partying and don't stay out past at least 3am I think it's an early night.
- Dancing, with or without a buzz, is one of the most fun things you can do with friends.
Questions for Me:
1. What talent do you wish you had that you currently don't?
Reading music. I can distinguish notes and figure them out slowly, but I learn everything by ear. I wish I could look at a piece of music and know what it meant.
2. What's your favorite book?
The Harry Potter series, without a doubt. It's classic.
3. If you could have anyone's life for a day, whose would it be?
Any performer. I would love to have the opportunity to be on stage and perform for a living.
4. What profession would you want to have other than the one you currently have?
I don't currently have one, so there's that lol. But if I was to choose things I would love to do, I'd love to work in HR or labour relations and have what I do make a difference. In my dreams, I'd love to be a famous singer.
5. How has blogging affected your personal style?
I feel like I'm a lot more conscious of what I wear, and more likely to take risks. They start small but I'm more likely to pair things that don't necessarily match, thing that are unexpected.
6. How many friends do you have on Facebook?
Had to go check this one, I have 260. Much editing has been done and continues to be done.
7. Favorite meal: breakfast, lunch or dinner?
Breakfast. Or dinner if it involves pasta.
8. What's your zodiac sign? Do you think it accurately describes you?
Mine's a little too accurate sometimes. I'm a Taurus, the stubborn side of the bull describes me perfectly.
9. What is your biggest success to date?
Getting to go to the UK for a term and travel Europe. I learned a lot about myself and what I want in life.
10. What are you looking forward to?
Graduating! And getting a job and moving away!
11. Tell us about your best friend.
My best best friend I've had since I was about 5. We were put together because our mother's were both teachers and her older brother could babysit. We were friends on and off from 5 to 20-ish, fighting like sisters, but now we're good and I think that's gonna continue with how our relationship has shifted. Katie is the most vivacious person and upbeat person I know, even when things aren't going well in her life. She's one of those people that everyone wants to be around, because she's fun and makes things more interesting. We're insane together on good and bad days and I'd do anything for this girl!
Questions for My Nominees:
1. What do you think is better: the book or the movie?
2. First novel you remember reading?
3. Last book you read?
4. Have you ever lived anywhere than the country you live in now? Any different states/provinces?
5. Cat or dog person?
6. Who has affected you the most in the past year?
7. Are you a salty or sweet person?
8. How many/what social networks do you use regularly?
9. What was the last concert you went to?
10. Are you still friends with your first childhood friend?
11. Biggest hope for next year?

143. Emotional states
I've got photos to edit, posts to publish, and yet school manages to get in the way again. Two papers of my own, an assignment, two midterms, and a group project since my last post. Along with the rest of the term papers (that I'm currently ignoring) that are going to plan my death for the end of November. You can understand my need to get away for a little while. The last post here was about the things I'm thankful for, but had a few cryptic points about the weekend I'd had. I'm mostly over those events even with the milestone that passed a few days ago. I was taking a little study break just a few minutes ago, reading another article from Thought Catalog, when one of the points in the article struck me as being so true.
This article has a lot of good points that make a lot of sense but one sentence in particular smacked me in the face. It's rather unsettling when words do that, but that's why I'm a words person. I like the power of them. Anyways, the quote goes like this:
This article has a lot of good points that make a lot of sense but one sentence in particular smacked me in the face. It's rather unsettling when words do that, but that's why I'm a words person. I like the power of them. Anyways, the quote goes like this:
Your passing emotional states can’t
be trusted for measuring your self-worth or your position in life, but
they are great at teaching you what it is you can’t let go of.
Now, this may just be me but that line holds a lot of significance for me. I have a tendency to rely on emotions and the fact that if I feel a certain way it means I'm weak. But no, it actually doesn't. It just means I have to accept there are some things I am not over or things I might continue to feel in certain situations. How I'm feeling will change many times in the run of a day. I'll realize again that this is a process that takes time.
Rant over, as I must get back to studying! Check out the article if you're interested, it's a good read. I've found some really interesting stuff on TC, it's worth a look.

142. Thankful
first two images via Pinterest / third via lululemon FB page
For all the times I need reassurance and find it a phone call or a text away.
For the friends who help me in their own ways and have my back through everything.
For the family that could not be any better.
For my health, and the health of those I love.
For my happiness that continues to grow.
For the strength to get through things I don't think I can handle.
For the ability to see that the easiest choice isn't always the right one.
For all the things I forget to be thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone reading this, and I am thankful for you!
Til next time!

141. She starts dancing when the stars come out..
jacket - Mavi / shirt - F21 / capris - Zara / crop top (underneath) - Walmart / flats - random shop in Portugal
Another week gone, but this time I get to have a little mini-vacay! I took these last week before Fall decided to come hit us all in the ass. It was so nice, but now it's over. Had to happen eventually I guess.
I have no more words in my head. Too many essays in the past week, both which I did well on but I just can't think anymore lol.
Happy long-weekend to all my Canadian friends!

140. An absence.
I realized lately I've reached a new level of neglect for my blog. It's not something I'm completely happy with, but that's what happens when life gets in the way. Reasons for said absence? It has been over a month, you see. August was it's own kind of busy, finishing up my work-term and the associated things to do. I managed to get a post in before I headed on my vacation time, but the relaxation left me to my own devices. Saw Keith Urban (!!!!) for the second time and loved it intensely. Some conflict happened with my tickets but I got a great seat after and even managed to hang with a friend during the show.
Montreal was such an amazing time. I loved the feel of the city, and getting to explore around it with my Mom. I brought my Nikon with me to try and document some of my outfits, but carrying it around while shopping got a little old. Still need to get Mom's pictures to post a few. Something I'm hoping to do soon.
After Montreal came Fredericton, to see the best friend before her return home! Met some more of her family and the new BF, who is a sweetheart. I like seeing her happy :) Our road-trip home was long and tiring but it was definitely a good experience. 36 hours, and I saw 4 provinces in 4 days. Well traveled takes on another new meaning.
And then we come to the real fun part: my second last term of university. School is busy all.the.time. I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things after being away from real classes for a year. I fully intended to update once I returned but classes hit me hard, along with all the work necessary for it. I'm trying to wear things that are comfortable but still cute. It's a challenge when it's still freaking summer here. On that note, here's my way of coping with the heat but still looking school appropriate.
Also, new hair! Yay!
shirt - H&M / skirt - Old Navy, circa 2003 / scarf - street vendor, in Rome / flats - AE from Payless
I still haven't gotten around to wearing all my new clothes. I bought lots of cute stuff in Montreal but the weather isn't cooperating for the most part. More stripes to add, of course. A lot of the things I got were very dressy, so I'm trying to figure out how to bring them back to casual. It's an interesting challenge.
And on that note, off again I go. Two papers due this week, one written and one outlined but left to be finished. School work never ends for me. I'm gonna work harder to make sure that the next post isn't so long coming!

139. Slowing it down
top - LOFT / pants - Smart Set / shoes (not pictured) - flats from AE
Not a whole lot happening besides that, which is a nice thing to be able to say. I'm hoping to head out home for a few days soon, before I head off on my next adventure. Montreal with my Mom and Aunt for a week, then road-tripping from NB with my bestie! It's going to be a good way to start off the school year, since she's moving in once we arrive back to St. John's :)
Off to take care of the errands I haven't had a chance to do all summer. I'm not certain, but I think they might take me a while :P

138. Keep it simple.
cardigan - Target / shirt - AA / skirt - Dynamite / flats - Marc
I had such, such good intentions for this month's EBEW. I picked out what I was going to wear, had it all planned out for Tuesday morning and it was going to be lovely.
Then Tuesday happened.
It rained buckets, I was late for work, and when I got home from work I realized my internet/tv/phone had all crapped out on me. My lovely outfit wouldn't be documented! I only had it fixed last night and didn't have time to post with work.
So instead, I'm just posting it now. I always want to wear the EBEW outfits on the day of posting, just in case I see someone following the same theme. It's a far off chance, I know, but it's possible. I've worn a very similar variation of this outfit before, but the bare bones version. I love pairing these blues together. The skirt was the best choice for me, both color and item wise, since the humidity plaguing my dear city hadn't broken yet. It did yesterday, and now it's cold and I want my heat back. Never thought I'd be saying that.
I hope to get back into my posting soon. I'm saying that at a somewhat bad time as I'm soon off on vacation and going away for a couple of weeks! Really excited about that, first a trip with my Mom and then road trip with the bestie! Hopefully I'll use some of my spare time to write a few posts up. I'll be committing myself back to my blog once the fall hits.
Thanks for everyone who's continued visiting me here and stick around, it's going to be better promise! I may not be involved technically, but head on over to the EBEW site to see how everyone else interpreted their monochromatic looks!
Til next time! :)

137. Spare time? What's that?
cardi - Sisters / skirt - LOFT / sandals - Spring / sunglasses - Rims eyewear
Work and gym classes and homework are piling up on me again. It's almost that time in the work-term where my free time goes goodbye and I start editing my giant report. Only this time, since I'm actually working at an actual job that I actually like, I haven't got the report written. (did I say actually enough yet?)
I took these a couple weeks ago on one of the beautiful sunny days we've been having here in the city! My tripod mount is still on the missing list, and the sun in the back room doesn't make for the best lighting. I deal anyways, of course! Got this skirt on sale on my trip to Florida, I'm excited to try it out with more combinations. Maybe once work is over, I try to keep it tame around the office.
Off doing school work and trying to plan my life. It's not looking so good, but I'll get through!
Til next time!

136. Blocks of color.
cardi - Sisters / dress - Old Navy / bandeau - Walmart / grey flats that I wore to work!
Today's July's EBEW! I remembered! I meant to take pictures to post this morning, but my mornings are never that organized. Plus I've been missing my tripod mount for about a month, may have to go buy myself a new one so I can take advantage of the awesome weather that's continuing here in my fair city.
I realized today I do a lot more color blocking than I realize. I love bright colors and wearing several is better. I'm not quite as brave as all the other participants, but I think this is a pretty good start. Don't you?
Also, look at my room! Yay! It's not brown anymore! Painted on the weekend and I'm in love with it. It's so girly now. Finally.
Head on over to the EBEW site to check out the rest of the entries!

135. Give a little time to me, or burn this out.
Yes, another Ed Sheeran song. No, it won't stop.
button-down - express / belt from a mexx skirt / capris - Smart Set / shoes (not pictured) AE flats / necklace - from a gift shop in Dublin :)
What have I managed to lose in gaining a new music obsession? My ability to write full sentences. Lists it is!
- skipped yoga to clean yesterday. stayed on my laptop instead. yep.
- realized I may have lost a little weight, or once my monthly bloat went away I feel smaller anyways. good to realize nonetheless.
- I'm curious what I weigh lately but don't know if I want to find out.
- I've had this shirt from Express since last April. This was my first time wearing it. I still have a skirt I haven't worn that I bought last Sept.
- every outfit that I've liked lately has included these black pants. need more of them, desperately. Slightly longer would do, but slim fit and cropped. Ideas/suggestions?
Rant must be over, stuff to do!

134. Working on it
cardi - Tommy Hilfiger / shirt - Urban Planet / bralet - Walmart / jeans - H&M / flats - LOFT
Things I'm working on:
- accepting that my closet isn't what I want it to be.
- taking pictures without a mount for my tripod.
- figuring out what pieces are and are not work appropriate in summer.
- going to the gym enough that it's worth the effort
- being more social.
Guess which one is the most difficult? With the exception of the past weekend, the last one. I'm a hermit, what can I say?
Very glad to have found a way to wear this shirt. I have super high waisted skinny jeans from H&M that I bought in London, for 10 GBP. They're awesome. My other favourite part of this outfit? The shoes. Sighh. I wish I had a LOFT store closer so I could buy everything. Such is life, guess I'll have to keep traveling.
What was I complaining about again?
Til next time :)

133. Messy
cardi - Pull & Bear / shirt - Disney / pants - Smart Set / Sperry Topsiders
Messy was my weekend, so I spent a lot of time being very lazy. Messy is also my hair here, but this is one of my favourite outfits I've worn recently. Office appropriate but still fun. I love Mickey too of course.
Not much to report on that front. I'm trying to find more time in the week for everything I need to do. Studying and keeping up with my course, exercising, cooking, and hopefully finding time to bake, all while working 8-5 everyday and ignoring my mounting pile of housework. Weekends are never long enough to do everything unfortunately.
Til next time!
