128. Blue's the way I roll.

So, in case you haven't heard, I live on an island. In the Atlantic Ocean. And around this time of year, we get pretty little icebergs that float on by, and make the ocean look even prettier :)

look, there's one now!
And if you really have heard of Newfoundland, you'll know those friggers are gigantic and it's never as warm as it looks in pictures. It was a warm day on Saturday, my warm being everyone else's, gee I should wear a sweater.

In honour of Mr. Berg, I wore a dress and tried to match the colors around me. I actually didn't, which is the sad part, but I'm all blue in front of the ocean and the blue sky with the ice-blue and white berg there above me. It's seasonal, anyways.

So where have I been lately? I'm still wearing clothes, and work appropriate clothes even. I'm attributing my absense to the fact that I'm into yoga more than blogging now. I prefer to go to yoga after work, or after supper after work, than to come home and take pictures of what I've been wearing. It's not necessarily a bad thing, since I quite love it, but I used to like blogging too. I feel like I'm a in a funk now. Maybe it's because I know my family and friends know about it, and it's no longer a big deal. It's still important to me, I think. And I think people are still reading. Are you still out there, dear friends? I'm sorry if I've let you down, but I promise I'll try to be better.

Not a whole lot has happened since last week. Three works of work done, I got paid, I make several banana breads with new beautiful mixer and fell more in love with it, and found out I still can't be on time for work. I work farther away, and I have to park in a giant parking garage, but I still fail on that side of things. I can't even think of what else I've done.

What else do I have coming up? I can't think of that either! But right now I have sleep, it's almost 10pm! A girl needs her beauty sleep!

Til next time!

127. Birthday gifts.

As I'm technically on vacation, since today is a holiday in Canada, this is going to be a short post! I have meant to post my outfits many times since I started work, the one I wore last Wednesday in particular since it was my birthday! I had three outfit changes though, so it wasn't such an easy task. I wore awesome red pants for work, a beautiful lace dress for supper, and then changed back into my yoga pants for a good class. Long but good day.

So in lieu of birthday outfits, here's my birthday presents! One is from the parents, one from the boyfriend. Want to guess which is which? I'll tell you anyways. The mixer is from my wonderful boyfriend, to replace the broken one he tried to give me at Christmas. I'm planning on doing some a lot of baking in the next week to try it out. First up is cupcakes, I think.

And from my parents? Along with bringing me to Florida in a couple of weeks, I finally got a new leather jacket! I say new, though I've never owned one so technically it's my first. I love the style and color, and you'll definitely be seeing this in rotation soon! To those of you living in locations with actual seasons, yes it is still cool enough to wear a leather jacket here. Such is Newfoundland and my life, but I love it nonetheless.

So with that said, I'm off to finish packing up! Have to head back to town today for work tomorrow. I completely want more time here but weekends will have to do for now. To all Canadian readers, I hope you've had a wonderful May 2-4, and to everyone else I hope your week is off to a wonderful start!

Til next time!

126. It's been fixed.

Another absence on my part! I started work last Monday, so week 2 is almost over. It's a little hard to get back into the swing of things at the moment. I go to work by 8, not off til 5, and then yoga at some point around the day. I've got over a hundred blog posts backed up on my Reader. I usually check them about 3 times a day, and with the restrictions on internet time at work, I'm both more productive and less able to look at fun things.

Getting used to my work clothes and closet is a pretty interesting task. Getting used to being back in Newfoundland was a challenge too. I didn't want to post any OOTD pics for the first week, for a few reasons. I may have been wearing some of my new clothes, but I slept alot and needed a hair appointment desperately. So with all of my fixing done, here's my first outfit post of my last workterm!

 cardigan - Pull & Bear / shirt - Cortefiel / tank - bluenotes / pants - Mexx / flats - Clarks

You might recognize this from one of my few outfit posts from this term. It's the shirt my cousin gave me from her extensive closet. A good time indeed, and once it was altered it's quickly become a favourite. I love how it's so light and pretty, but the way it makes me look a little wide in the tummy area is a little annoying. It poofs out right on the front of my belly. No pictures, but you can imagine it I'm sure.

I really hope I manage to get back to posting! I have so much nice clothes that I need to get into wearing again. And jewelry. I looked cute today too, but alas I was home too late for pictures. I will get back into this, I must! And to those who continue to visit and check up on what I'm doing, thank you. Sincerely. I appreciate the interest and your continued support! I'm off to catch up on blog reading before packing for my trip home this weekend. Super excited :)

Day 104: Studio Tour

Unfortunately, Days 97 through 103 didn't consist of many interesting activities. Because we arrived so late towards the end of midterm break, there was lots of studying to be done. Accounting for some, and one other international business course for me. I don't like studying all that much, but it had to be done. We had two written projects due before we left and another on the Monday after we got home, as well as studying for our exchange course. It was busy but we had planned a certain outing before going to Harlow.

If you don't like Harry Potter, you're probably better off quitting now :P

The Harry Potter Studio Tour at Warner Brothers Leavesden studio opened up at the beginning of April. The tour was created in a former soundstage of WB Studios. It had many former sets recreated, mostly the originals! And lots of props that were actually used in the movies. I took about a million pictures, but I figured I'd keep to just my favourite portions of the tour.

The tour was self-guided, but I chose to get the audio guide as well. It was well worth it to hear the explanations about the different sets and see commentary from the directors, producers, and other heads of departments of the films. Since I'm a giant HP nerd, it was basically the best thing ever.

And such was another night in Harlow! It took me about 3 hours to get through the tour, and I could have spent even more time there. Such a good way to nearly end the term.

One more post to clue up my time abroad!

Day 94-96: Barcelona

The last stop of the midterm break; Barcelona. The only city, besides amusement park town, that I hadn't been to. Because I was so tired and so sick still, I really didn't get to see as much of it as I wanted to. I enjoyed it, but I'll definitely be going back to Spain to see more of the city.

We arrived late Sunday night and headed straight to bed to rest up for the day. I woke up Sunday morning feeling a little better, but not a whole lot. The girls headed back to the amusement park for another day, but I was happier staying and exploring Barcelona more. I met up with two of the girls who had split off in Rome, and the three of us took in some touristy sites.

The first stop was the MNAC, a local museum. One of the girls wanted to get up to the terrace of the museum to see the view, but once I got up there I insisted we go inside. It was pretty interesting, lots of different types of art that I don't typically see. There were a few church murals set up, that were actually removed from their original homes to be placed in the exhibits. Hard to explain but really awesome.

Next stop was the market, which ended up not being open. Katie and I got fast-food tapas, something I hadn't heard of but was more than eager to try. I had a fried egg and ham over thick salty fries. So tasty.

We dropped off at the hostel for a minute after lunch, and found D some lunch at McDonald's. Instead of taking the Metro to the Sagrada Familia, we decided to take the bus and go through the city. What ended up being completely the wrong stop and wrong direction turned out to be a really pretty park, the Park Guell designed by Gaudi. Once we got back to Harlow I learned it's pretty famous because of Gaudi's designs. It was trippy but gorgeous. We walked up the hill as far as you could go, without truly mountain climbing, and got another beautiful view of Barcelona. The tile work and mosaics throughout the park were beautiful, I definitely want to go back here!

Following the park, we got a little lost. I could see the church from the Park Guell, but it was a long walk. We walked through a pretty domestic part of the city, not touristy as shown by the closed shops and lack of cars. It was interesting to see the true city, and though we got a little off track we reached the church after about half an hour.

I stood there staring at the church for a while. It was ridiculous to see all of the detail on the church. Fruit, Christmas trees, and holy scenes were just a few of the sights on the massive church!

My most favourite meal of the trip happened that night. I had such good food, a full plate of Iberian ham, manchego cheese, a spanish tortilla, and tomato bread. And sangria. It was amazing and expensive, but totally worth it. I took pictures of both, but not after we attacked them! The night was kind of early other than that. We headed back to the hostel and had more sangria, before heading to bed.

The last day in Barcelona was a slow one. Some of the girls went on a walking tour, but I was even more beat out than previous days and just needed to rest. I explored a bit of the city and bought a couple more of my favourite cardigans, and an excellent pair of flats that I can't wait to show off. Not much else to tell unfortunately. We went to a popular tapas restaurant for supper, all 7 of us, but it was very underwhelming. All the other girls loved it, but without my plate of meat I wasn't as happy haha. It was an early night of packing before our flight home, with little sleep involved.

And so ended our midterm break! The below picture was in the cab on our way to the airport, around 4AM. It was an early flight to make it back for studying purposes at Harlow, but I just slept on the flight and when we got back.

I probably wouldn't do the same trip again, but I will definitely visit those places again. Overall I really enjoyed the group I traveled with and the things we did, even if it was too rushed. I've only got a few more things to document from my travels. I have to actually accept the fact that it's over once it's blogged, you'll have to forgive my tardiness!

Til next time!
